Mama Bear

Coreopsis grows wild along roadsides. It is a cheerful flower with medical uses and can be used for making red and yellow dye. Some indigenous peoples brewed it as a drink previous to introduction of coffee, and an infusion of the whole plant excepting the root was believed to help women wanting to conceive a girl child. It was also the starting point for this arrangement,
along with the red bear weaving and bear fetish. Bears are known for their formidable strength and protection and healing are characteristics associated with a bear fetish.
