This painting was a commission I received out of interest in capturing the serene beauty of the client's backyard in Ada, Michigan. I started this work in plein air, finding the key compositional elements and color harmonies to set the mood. I try to my best to keep the expressive, spontaneous nature of my plein air paintings when finishing work up in the studio.
