Harmony in pink

It is an oil painting on linen. I drew my inspiration from a visit to my local botanical garden. I have been fascinated by the magnificent poinsettias on exhibit. I particularly tried to capture their pattern of color. First, a grisaille (underpainting)thee desired effect was done. Then successive transparent layers of color were applied over the underpainting until I got what I wanted. Some translucent and opaque brushstrokes at the end were necessary to finalise the desired effect.
