This painting was begun as a plein air study of a group of trees blown in the wind at Calafia State Park in San Clemente, CA. It was their silhouette in front of the billowing clouds that attracted me to this scene, their shape and movement. It was that silhouette that I was focused on retaining throughout the painting process, while varying it with the inclusion of a variety of greens, , reds and sky holes.
