1332 Santa Barbara Street, University Club

The University Club was founded in Santa Barbara, CA in 2019, then moved to this location, where I painted the building en plein air, just inside the gate on the front sidewalk. I spent two days on the piece, 7 hours the first day, and 6 hours the next, first in oil, then with an acrylic underpainting. I wanted to capture the warmth and softness of the Central Coast, as well as the historical feel of this Spanish Colonial Revival architecture.
