Truce

During lockdown, many people had to find new forms of exercise from home. Here we see a couple who give an online boxing class a try.

In this painting I explore the interpersonal battles people faced during the lockdowns. It was an intense period for many. Relationships were strained, sometimes to a breaking point.

Notice yellow boxing gloves on the ground. By removing her gloves, the woman is able to fully embrace her spouse. The fight for the relationship is won by dropping her protective tools and choosing to hold onto the good, knowing when it’s ok to call a truce.
