Dance of the Waves

This piece was inspired by a beautiful morning walk near Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island, SC (Charleston). The patters of shadow on the sand and the way the waves caught the early light drew me to this scene. An older gentleman who was walking his dog stopped to ask if I wanted my picture taken. After explaining that I was a painter, we spent the next few minutes chatting about the severe wind the day before and the calm of the early morning hours. Those memories are also attached to this painting. I completed this piece using oils on a linen panel.
